Islamabad, June 21, 2015: Senator Sehar Kamran (TI) paid great tribute to Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto (SMBB) on the 62nd birth anniversary of the great leader. She said SMBB was a charismatic and visionary leader who left indelible imprints on the hearts of millions of people.
Senator Kamran said SMBB spent her entire life for a liberal, tolerant Pakistan and strived to bring equality in the society. She broke the glass ceiling for women and took a number of revolutionary steps to elevate the status of women in society.
Senator Sehar Kamran said SMBB fought courageously against those fractions who could not see a prosperous and liberal Pakistan. She said SMBB recognised the dangers Pakistan faced in the form of extremism and terrorism and openly condemned such elements who threatened the sovereignty and stability of Pakistan. She said we must carry on the fight SMBB initiated until we defeat such ideology.
Twice elected Prime Minister of Pakistan as well as the first elected female leader of the Muslim world, SMBB was a symbol of national integration, she added.
