On the occasion of Kashmir Day, entire Pakistani nation is showing solidarity with the people of Jammu and Kashmir. Today, we reaffirm and reiterate our commitment to the cause of Kashmir and to the people who have continued to suffer at the hands of the Indian Occupation forces.
For more than six decades, the people of Kashmir have been subjected to the worst kind of human rights abuses, violence and suppression. I want to assure the people of Kashmir that Pakistani nation will continue to support them for their right to self-determination as enshrined in the Charter of the United States and the United Nations Security Council resolutions. Pakistan calls for an end to the human rights violations in the Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
The Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) has always been a staunch supporter of the rights of people of Kashmir. The founder of the PPP, Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Shaheed, was the one who internationalised the issue of Kashmir through effective diplomacy. It was he who in 1974 declared February 5 the “Kashmir Day”. PPP’s legacy is its commitment to the cause of Kashmir. Former Prime Minister Benzair Bhutto Shaheed, Co- Chairman of PPP and Former President Asif Ali Zardari and Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari have all pledged their unflinching support to the people of the former State of Jammu and Kashmir.
Pakistan will continue to morally, politically and diplomatically support the people of Jammu and Kashmir until they gain freedom from the Indian shackles. I have no doubt that ultimately Kashmiris would be the final arbiter of their destiny. We will always stand by the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
