Islamabad, 21st November, 2016: The resolution to ensure adequate female participation in the Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) was moved by Senator Sehar Kamran (TI) in the Senate of Pakistan, today. She said the Constitution of Pakistan advocates equal opportunities for women and ensures fundamental human rights irrespective of caste, gender or creed. Senator Sehar Kamran said our religion protects and cherishes the rights given to women. Hazrat Muhammad (SAW) gave great regard to women, she said.
Senator Sehar Kamran said the recent statements and bills by the CII not only negate the fundamental rights of women but also increase confusion is society through controversial statements.
An increase in the female representation and a complete reform in the CII is a need of the changing times and we must adapt accordingly, she said.
