Islamabad, 3rd March, 2017: Senator Sehar Kamran today raised a question in the senate of Paksitan on the sharing of the dossier by the Government of Pakistan regarding Kulbushan Yadav with the new UN Secretary General. She said that even though the day marks one year anniversary of the Indian spy’s arrest from Baluchistan as he was arrested on 3rd March 2016, our Government remains hesitant to declare progress on the status of his persecution. Senator Kamran said this seemed to highlight a lack of communication between different ministries, as was further evident when the PM’s advisor on Foreign Affairs Mr Sartaj Aziz, informed the Senate on 7th December that the dossier on Kulbhushan Yadav had insufficient material to be shared; a statement which was picked up by the Indian media enthusiastically. Then on 31st December, Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the said dossiers had already been shared with Pakistan’s permanent representative at the UN. We need to have a unified and clear stance on matters of such national importance, she added. She said it is deeply regretful that none of the government ministers were present to address this issue of vital national importance in the senate of Pakistan.
Furthermore, in addition, Senator Sehar Kamran also raised the issue of gross negligence in the education sector, whereby children in schools across the country learning to refer to Azad Kashmir as ‘‘Pakistan-occupied Kashmir’ by their own social studies book. The book in question is published by Paramount and a compulsory one for class five. This, she said is psychological warfare being waged upon our future generations by actively attempting to distance them from the cause of Kashmir. Senator Kamran urged upon the vital importance of carefully screening of curriculum being taught in schools by relevant authorities and stated that any negligence by the government authorities on issues like these should be considered as criminal.
