Islamabad, 6th March, 2017: Senator Sehar Kamran’s resolution was unanimously passed in the Senate of Pakistan urging government to take necessary steps to register minors in domestic employment, if any and to protect the fundamental rights of street children in Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT). She said children are our future, instead of ensuring that their future is protected, they are being exploited by dishonest segments of the society.
Senator Kamran said we strictly need to implement the laws regarding child labour, child protection and child abuse in ICT and award severe punishment to those found violating the same. She said the Constitution of Pakistan guarantees basic fundamental rights to all its citizens which includes street children. We need to protect these children to prevent them for being used by criminals today or in future, she added.
