Islamabad, 5th July, 2017: Senator Sehar Kamran (TI) said today marks the 40 years of the black day in the history of Pakistan when the democratic government of the former Prime Minsiter of Quaid-e-Awaam Pakistan Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto was toppled by the military dictator in 1977.
Senator Kamran stated that the PPP Founder Zulfiqar Bhutto was a great visionary leader who devoted all his life to serve the people of Pakistan. She said today is the day when the democratic process and progress in Pakistan was rolled back and the seeds of extremism sowed.
Senator Sehar Kamran said the world remembers how the brutal dictatorship of Zia-ul-Haq distorted the peaceful image of Pakistan and how the workers of Pakistan People’s Party under the leadership of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhuto and Nusrat Bhutto resisted this regime. She said on this day we pledge to uphold constitutional values as taught and practiced by Shaheed Zulfiqaar Ali Bhutto.
