Islamabad, 6th September, 2017: Senator Sehar Kamran (TI) has called out the international community for their selective silence on the “ethnic cleansing” of Rohingya Muslims. She said the reaction of the international community on the humanitarian crisis of this magnitude has simply been disappointing.
Senator Kamran questioned the effectiveness of the United Nations and said the negligence shown by the global community and the Muslim world over the “ethnic cleansing” of 1.1 million Rohingya Muslims is criminal. She stated that had this inhumane treatment occurred in the Western world, there would have been a lot of hue and cry over it but unfortunately it seems the Muslim blood is cheaper than water.
Senator Sehar Kamran said the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation must immediately convene a session on the plight of Rohingya Muslims and take steps to ease the pain of over a million people by asking the government of Mynamar to immediately allow UN agencies from delivering vital food, water and medicine supplies to 250,000 Rakhine residents desperately in need. She said this predicament of Rohingya community has been continuing for decades, it is time that a solution is agreed upon to urgently resolve the crisis on humanitarian grounds.
