Islamabad, 18th December, 2017: While speaking in the Senate of Pakistan, on the third anniversary of the Army Public School attack, Senator Sehar Kamran (TI) said 16th December is undoubtedly a black day in the history of our country, as on this day in 1971, we lost East Pakistan, and then in 2014, the cowardly terrorist attack on APS occurred claiming the lives of 132 children. She stated the wound of APS tragedy will always be fresh in our hearts.
Senator Kamran opined that as we continue to fight and eradicate the deadly menace of terrorism and violent extremism from the country, without putting an end to such individuals, groups or organizations, and completely curbing their financial flow, only limited success can be achieved.
Senator Sehar Kamran also talked about the Quetta Church attack which claimed nine precious lives and left over 50 injured. She stated that this coward attack on the Church was an attempt to disrupt religious harmony in the country just before Christmas.
Senator Kamran’s resolution called upon the Government to implement the National Action Plan (NAP) in its true letter and spirit to take concrete steps to ensure the perpetrators are brought to justice and such incidents can be prevented in the future. She said we must unify our efforts against such attempts to sow discord and disrupt religious harmony. She expressed solidarity with the families of the bereaved.
