Islamabad, 22nd May, 2017: Senator Sehar Kamran (TI) has submitted a Calling Attention Notice and Motion under Rule 218 in the Senate of Pakistan drawing attention over the government’s apparent failure to properly plead Pakistan’s case in the International Court of Justice over the issue of Kulbhushan Yadav, which has temporarily halted the execution of capital punishment awarded to the Indian spy. She said that there remains a significant question-mark on the ability of the government to make its case, which it has failed to do, despite claiming time and again to have submitted dossiers to international bodies with evidence of Indian involvement inside Pakistan, and having had Yadav in custody for over a year.
Senator Kamran stated that the present government has failed to prove that Yadav is an Indian terrorist not merely a spy at the ICJ, and that the world needs to understand that he has confessed to the killing of hundreds of innocent Pakistanis at the behest of the Indian government.
Senator Sehar Kamran said this matter is of great national importance and needs to be discussed in the Senate. She said legislators sitting in the Parliament must join hands and discuss measures to resolve this crisis. In this regard, the Adviser to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs may make a statement clarifying Government’s stance over Yadav’s case and the ICJ episode, she added.
