Islamabad, 08th May 2017: Senator Sehar Kamran (TI) has expressed great concern on the regional developments especially those involving our immediate neighbours. She said since taking charge the present government has been incapable of maintaining cordial ties with any of our neighbours and Eastern, Western and Southern borders have never been as insecure as they are today.
Senator Kamran said the recent belligerence by Afghanistan on the bordering town of Chaman martyring 11 people, the statement by the Iranian Army Chief threatening to carry out attacks inside Pakistan and the growing Indian aggression and its global campaign against Pakistan are extremely worrisome developments. She said it seems the government is entangled in its personal controversies and does not have time to address issues concerning national security.
Senator Sehar Kamran further said that the statement made by Turkey’s President Tayyip Erdoğan, one of Pakistan’s most significant ally, to support India’s bid at the UNSC is also an alarming development and the government must explain why it was unable to convey its reservations regarding the issue to Ankara.
She demanded that the government must take the people and the Parliament of Pakistan in confidence regarding these distressing regional developments impacting upon Pakistan’s national interests.
