Islamabad 19th May, 2017: Senator Sehar Kamran (TI) on the recent decision by the International Court of Justice (ICJ) halting the hanging until the final decision of the Indian spy and serving naval officer Kulbhushan Yadav has said that Pakistan should not have conceded to the ICJ’s jurisdiction over this case just like India has always refused the ICJ’s jurisdiction over the atrocities in Kashmir. She further said the world needs to understand that Yadav was an Indian terrorist who confessed to the killing of hundreds of innocent Pakistanis at the behest of the Indian government.
Senator Kamran criticized the government and referred to this judgement as a huge diplomatic failure having weakened Pakistan’s moral high ground in the international arena. Despite having the Indian spy in custody for over a year, the government could not even prepare a proper case to be presented before the international institutions, she said.
Senator Sehar Kamran said instead of questioning or raising why the Indian national was in possession of two passports, one with the name of ‘Mubarak Patel’, Pakistan’s case was mishandled by its own people. She said the incompetence of the government of Pakistan is evident from the fact that the country failed to appoint an ad-hoc judge whereas New Delhi appointed theirs in the panel, furthermore, the Chief of Army Staff’s recent statement at a Seminar held in GHQ where he stated, We (the army) appointed the lawyer to represent Pakistan’s case before the ICJ raises questions on the credibility of the sitting civilian regime’s commitment towards the country.
