First meeting of Parliamentary Friendship Group, Pakistan- Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, was held here at Parliament House to chalk out future working plan for the group. The meeting was presided over by Senator Sehar Kamran who emphasised on establishing deeper people-to-people contact so that better understanding could be developed between the two societies. The two countries already enjoy special relations that are not only brotherly but time tested, she added. She said that the love and respect the people of two countries share for each other is exemplary.
Additional Secretary of Middle East and African desk, ministry of foreign affairs was present and briefed the members regarding the Pakistan-KSA relations. He told that there are more than 2 million Pakistanis residing in KSA and the volume of trade between the two countries is 3.8 billion $. He said that KSA has always helped Pakistan in the time of need and Pakistan has also aptly responded by providing assistance to KSA in the field of security and military training and other sectors.
The members look forward to establish one to one relations with KSA Parliament members and initiate student exchange programs in order to establish cohesive connectivity between the peoples of Pakistan and KSA. The meeting was attended by Senator Kalsoom Parveen and Senator Ghous Muhammad Khan Niazi
