Islamabad, 4th April, 2018: Senator Sehar Kamran (TI) paid a glowing tribute to the former Prime Minister of Pakistan and Pakistan Peoples Party founder Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, on his 39th martyrdom anniversary. She said Shaheed Bhutto was the first leader after Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah to truly awaken the people, as he made them aware of their rights and provided the masses with a voice and an identity. She stated it was Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto who for the first time introduced the National Identity Cards and gave an identity to the people. Pakistan’s foreign policy under his visionary leadership became much more effective and fruitful, something which is sorely missed today, she added.
Senator Kamran stated this day is a stark reminder that democracy is the only way forward. She said any efforts to thwart the democratic process must be condemned, as it only brings destabilization and halts the progress of the country.
Senator Sehar Kamran further said that Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto’s contributions and his family’s sacrifices for democracy in Pakistan will always be remembered in the history with golden words. She remarked that Shaheed Bhutto’s initiatives to build a nuclear program for strengthening the defense of the country, internationalizing the issue of Kashmir and giving the unanimously agreed upon 1973 Constitution are unparalleled. His legacy will be remembered till the end of times.
