Islamabad, 9th June, 2017: Senator Sehar Kamran (TI) raised her voice against the government curbs on the right of freedom of expression. In the Senate of Pakistan, on the point of order, she said the government under the pretext of protection of the reputation of institutions is curbing the right of expression of its citizens by tracking and threatening civil society and media personnel.
Senator Kamran said social media accounts of 41 terrorist organisations are operating freely, openly violating the National Action Plan but unfortunately the current government is busy settling personal scores and tapping phones of political opponents and media persons.
