Islamabad, 15th June 2015: At the mark of the one year anniversary of Operation Zarb-e-Azab, Senator Sehar Kamran (TI), President Centre for Pakistan and Gulf Studies, felicitated the nation and the Armed Forces at the triumphs of the campaign that has become the benchmark of Pakistan’s fight against terrorism. She said the Operation which began on 15th June, 2014 following a deadly attack on Karachiairport, has been supported by a nation rallying behind its forces, and its success is marked in the innumerable sacrifices and the blood of our martyrs.
Senator Kamran highlighted the fact that the rate of terrorist activities within the country has dwindled significantly since the initiation of the operation. It has broken the backbone of terrorist groups, and the 2,763 dead terrorists are a testament to this. She said the entire nation is indebted to the brave soldiers, and that she salutes all who have laid their present for Pakistan’s future.
Senator Kamran also praised the Chief of Army Staff, General Raheel Sharif and the Army leadership for their valor and exemplary leadership during such a demanding operation. ‘We will never forget the services and sacrifices rendered by our valiant soldiers’, she added.
