Islamabad, 20th December, 2016: Senator Sehar Kamran (TI) today on the point of public importance in the Senate of Pakistan raised the issue of 17 Pakistani sailors stranded in Egypt whose passports have been confiscated by Egyptian government. She said this humanitarian issue needs to be dealt at the earliest, as the families of the sailors are extremely worried about their well-being as they are not being allowed to disembark the ship or go on the shore for anything.
Senator Sehar Kamran urged the Pakistani embassy in Cairo to take prompt action and provide the sailors with appropriate legal and medical help as they are running out of food and other supplies required for daily sustenance. She also requested the Pakistani government to take immediate measures for safe return of Pakistani sailors.
