Islamabad, 8th June, 2017: Senator Sehar Kamran walked out in protest from the Senate today at being continually denied the chance to record her protest on the absence of the Minister for Defense’s and failure of government to show seriousness on a matter of vital national importance.
There was no one on the government side to respond her Calling Attention notice on the news report published in the daily Dawn on 25th May, 2017, which stated that US Intelligence Chiefs have warned during US Senate Armed Services Committee that India may launch aggressive actions inside Pakistan on the pretext of stopping cross-border attacks and that the ongoing exchange of artillery shells across the Line of Control may lead to a direct conflict between the nuclear armed neighbours was deferred.
She said the deferment and the absence of the concerned minister showed the lack of interest and non-seriousness of the present government, especially in securing Pakistan’s national interests. In fact the Minister seemed more interested in defending the PM in the Panama case than fulfilling his actual responsibilities.
Senator Kamran said the present government’s behaviour went against democratic norms, and was irresponsible to say the least. Such neglect will only further damage Pakistan’s national interests.
