Islamabad, 4th April, 2020: On the 41st martyrdom anniversary of Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, Senator Sehar Kamran (TI) paid a glowing tribute to the former Prime Minister and the founding father of the Pakistan Peoples Party. She stated that “Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto is the one who built the Pakistani nation once again, and gave the people – the gift of hope, after the despairing times of the 1971 war. His leadership brought people together from all walks of life, cultures, and ethnic backgrounds.”
Senator Kamran opined that “It was Quaid-e-Awaam, Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, who for the first time introduced the common people to the concept of their basic rights with the still relevant visionary slogan of ‘Roti, Kapra aur Makaan’ (Food, clothing and shelter). This slogan has stood the test of times, and no other political party or leader has even come close to replicate the idea of social welfare such as this. He empowered the masses with the knowledge that the government existed to facilitate the people, instead of the other way around. He was the first national leader to instill among people the confidence and belief that they were the true epicenter of power in the country.”
Senator Sehar Kamran further said that “Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto’s political acumen and vision is quoted even today. He brought the leaders of Muslim countries together for the first time together under one roof. He is the founder of Pakistan’s nuclear program, because of which today we feel secure, and are among a handful of nations which possess the nuclear capability. Shaheed Bhutto’s contributions for democracy and championing the rights of people, especially the marginalized sections, is the reason that his personality and principles continue to rule people’s heart even after 41 years of his demise.”
Senator Kamran stated that “Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto’s life and death are an inspiration for democrats around the world. Shaheed Bhutto gave his life, but did not succumb to any pressure from the military dictator. His services for Pakistan and his legacy will always be remembered in history with golden words.”
“Today, the baton of the leadership is being carried forward under the able leadership of Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari with the experience of former President Asif Ali Zardari acting as the guiding force. Following the footsteps of his grandfather Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and mother Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has truly emerged as a national leader on Pakistan’s complex political landscape despite challenging circumstances,” she added.
