Islamabad, 04th February, 2020: On the 30th Kashmir Solidarity day, Senator Sehar Kamran (TI) stated in these testing times, the people of Pakistan unanimously stand with the people and cause of Kashmir. While expressing solidarity with the people of Kashmir, she said the right of self-determination of the people of Kashmir, as acknowledged by the UN cannot be subdued with an iron fist.
Senator Kamran stated that 5th February 2020 also marks six months, since, India rescinded the special status of Jammu and Kashmir and effectively cut off all communication channels in the Valley. She said it is sad to witness that international community has given preference to their commercial ties with India instead of giving precedence to the plight of the Kashmiri people who have been caged in the largest open prison of the world.
Senator Sehar Kamran lamented the silence of the international community over the Indian oppression of the Kashmiris and questioned their muted response by asking “Are Kashmiris the children of a lesser God?”, and “Are their rights not human rights?”.
She warned that this Indian oppression of the Kashmiris especially the youth, will only lead to more anarchy and destabilization in the region, as harsh tactics and subjugation by Indian forces and authorities cannot subdue the spirit and zeal of Kashmiri youth who want freedom from India.
Senator Kamran stressed that peace in South Asia and the world cannot be guaranteed without resolving the Kashmir dispute. She said, it is high time that the festering wound in the heart of South Asia be healed, as only it can lead to long lasting and durable peace in the region.
Senator Sehar Kamran further stated that the leadership of Pakistan Peoples Party has always supported and raised their voice on all national and international forums for the cause of Kashmir. Be it the Former Prime Minister Benzair Bhutto Shaheed, President PPP-P and the Former President of Pakistan HE Asif Ali Zardari and the Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, they all have remained committed to the Kashmiri cause, and have pledged their unflinching support to the people of the people of Kashmir.
On this Kashmir day, let us renew our national pledge to the land and people of Kashmir that we will fight till the last drop of blood, and sacrifices of people of Kashmir will not go in vain, she concluded.
