Islamabad, 21 March, 2019 Senator Sehar Kamran, President Centre for Pakistan and Gulf Studies (CPGS) said that 23rd March is a momentous day in our history and it reminds us the sacrifices of our people, leaders, martyrs and heroes who laid their lives for the realization of our dreams.
Senator Kamran paid a rich tribute to the founding father, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Allama Muhammad Iqbal for their unflinching commitment and dream to establish a separate homeland for the Muslims of subcontinent and oppressed minorities, where they can live peacefully according to their religious beliefs without fear and intimidation.
She stated that the founding fathers dreamt of a pluralistic democratic state where rule of law and constitutionalism would reign supreme. All institutions of the country have to work hard in harmony to achieve the goals set by the founding fathers, she remarked
As we observe the 79th Pakistan Day the state must demonstrate capacity to protect the fundamental rights of every citizen and ensure the complete rights of minorities in order to truly emerge as the progressive state where people are treated equally regardless of their caste, creed, gender and religion. She stated that we as a nation must resolve to cultivate a society, and a country which nurtures values, tolerance, harmony, and respect towards each other.
Since 1947, Pakistani nation has seen many ups and downs, but history is witnessed to this fact that we as one nation overpowered every challenge of history with determination and valor.
Senator Kamran lauded Pakistan armed forces and law enforcement agencies for rendering great sacrifices for protecting the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the country. Today, Pakistan army is the most battle hardened military in the world as for the last decade, they fought courageously the menace of terrorism, multi domain warfare and successfully defeated the evil designs of enemies.
Today, again Pakistan is passing through difficult times as the threat of war is looming large on the horizon and in this critical juncture, Pakistan armed forces are fully ready to respond to any misadventure and preemption. It’s high time for us as a nation to rise above all differences and divides and stand united as a nation, she said.
